The Transaction Report details all the financial transactions for your store that occur within Sezzle: orders, refunds and disputes, as well as settlements and withdrawals from your Sezzle account to your company’s bank account.

Overview

The report includes a variety of worksheets (tabs) to help organize the data for easier reconciliation. Depending on your store’s integration with Sezzle, you may not have all the worksheets listed in this guide.

How funds flow

For most Sezzle merchants, funds are paid out in three stages:

1. Orders

Orders become Settlements (Payouts).

2. Settlements

Settlements become Withdrawals.

3. Withdrawals

Withdrawals are sent to your linked bank account.
Trace these stages in the report: → (or the if you’re on the Interest Plan).
Report file naming. Previously the report was appended with the generation date. It now includes the from and to dates of the data in the report.
Split by shopper currency. The Orders, Virtual Card Orders, Captured Orders Breakdown, Refunds, Withdrawal Account Ledger, and Interest Account Ledger worksheets are split by shopper currency. If your store had orders paid in both USD and CAD within the requested period, you’ll see two sheets instead of one, for example “Orders - USD” and “Orders - CAD”.

Refunds

Direct Integration Dashboard: Refunds Split by shopper currency

  • Includes partial and full refunds and corresponds to the “Refunds” page within the Sezzle dashboard.

Disputes

New Direct Integration Dashboard: Disputes
  • Contains every dispute opened on your orders, both open and closed.
  • Directly corresponds to the “Disputes” page within the Sezzle dashboard, where you can respond to a dispute (Manage Dispute) or issue a refund.
  • While a dispute is open, the shopper’s installment payments on that order are paused. Only one active dispute can exist on an order at a time.
  • If you resolve a dispute by issuing a refund, the refund also appears on the worksheet.

Dispute status key

A closed dispute ends in one of these outcomes:

Ruled in your favor

The shopper’s claim wasn’t upheld, and payments resume normally.

Ruled in the shopper's favor

You’re responsible for the refund amount.

Sezzle absorbs the cost

No financial impact on you.

Mutual resolution

All parties reached an agreeable outcome, such as after a voluntary refund.

Reserve

Optional
  • This plan holds a portion of your settlements for a set period (if applicable). For example, if 15% of funds are held for 65 business days, 85% of your funds are released per the regular settlement period for your store and the rest are released on business day 66.
  • Specific percentage and holding period may vary.

Referral

Affiliate
  • Serves as a ledger for all events that occurred with referrals (if applicable).

Deprecated worksheets

These worksheets may still appear in historical reports, but they have been superseded by the ledger worksheets above.

Payouts

Deprecated Direct Integration Dashboard: Settlements
  • Contains the dates and amounts of all settlements.
  • Settlements do not directly correspond to the amount sent to your bank account.
  • Can be particularly useful to determine why certain amounts were sent to your bank account.
  • Directly corresponds to the “Settlements” page in the Sezzle dashboard.
  • To see a breakdown of all orders included in each payout, use the worksheet.

Payout Details

Deprecated Direct Integration
  • Contains the orders that are included in each settlement.
  • Combines the “Orders” and “Settlements” pages from the Sezzle dashboard.

Withdrawals

Deprecated Direct Integration Dashboard: Withdrawal Account
  • Shows the withdrawals that have been processed from your Sezzle account to your bank account.
  • Each row represents something affecting the net balance of your Sezzle withdrawal account — settlement of orders, refunds, corrections, and interest program withdrawals.
  • When a withdrawal occurs, the net balance of this account is settled with your bank and is indicated with a line indicating a debit or withdrawal.
  • Withdrawal amounts are calculated by taking all payouts to you (settlements, referral bonuses, etc.) and subtracting any refunds.
  • Corresponds to the “Withdrawal Account” page in the Sezzle dashboard.

Interest

Deprecated Direct Integration Dashboard: Interest Account
  • Ledger for all events that occurred within the Interest Account (if applicable).
  • Corresponds to the “Interest Account” page in the Sezzle dashboard — may be empty if your store does not use the Interest Account.

Troubleshooting

Tracing an order

1

Find the Reference ID

Find the order ID in your e-commerce system. That becomes the Reference ID within this report. If you can’t find the order, it was most likely created outside the report data range.
2

Check the settlement status

Locate the order by its Reference ID in the sheet, then look at the Settlement Status and Settlement Date. Status Completed means you’ve received all of the funds for that order. To trace them in detail, copy the Order ID, an internal Sezzle ID for the order.
3

Search the ledger

Go to either the or Ledger, depending on where you’re set up to receive your settlements, and search for all transactions with that order ID.
4

Do the math

The total of all credit Order transactions minus the total of all debit Sezzle Fee transactions with the given order ID is the amount you’ve been paid for that order in the selected time period.
On the Interest Plan? Orders processed into the Interest Plan are added to the total balance of the Interest Account, which is then manually withdrawn. Those funds go to a pool of money that isn’t immediately transacted with your bank account, so you won’t be able to trace orders directly to a bank transaction. You can still trace how much money is in your interest account for any given order: follow the steps above, but select the Interest Ledger instead of the Withdrawal Ledger. All transactions found for a given Order ID reflect the amount received in your interest account for that order.

Date mismatches

Due to time zones, there is a chance that the order date within Sezzle may not be the exact date within your e-commerce system. All time stamps in the transaction data report are in UTC. If you cannot find an order on the date expected, search for the order by the ID from your e-commerce platform, as that will be the Reference ID within the report.

Manual capture

If you are on manual capture, each payment comes in as an authorization. You must capture the payment to get paid. When you capture a payment authorization, the order will be fulfilled. If you do not capture the payment authorization, the funds will be held for up to seven days. You have seven days to capture; if you do not, the funds will be released.
